The Final Project Before The End

Well. I’m almost there. This post is meant to talk about the final project. I’m surprised with myself, to be honest. I thought I would continue off of my old project due to curveballs and life shenanigans that got in the way, but I’m rather delighted to be making a new game.

I decided to partner up with my previous artist, Stephanie, as I thought we worked well together, and her art is to die for. Since we were allowed to expand our group to four members, I reached out to see if anyone was interested. Fortunately, I was able to recruit another artist, Julie. Initially, I told the group I wanted to build a digital escape room. With nothing else in mind, I wasn’t sure where we would go from here. But lucky for me, I was working with a pair of wonderful artists. It was their idea to go the Alice in Wonderland theme, and their art is both fitting and beautiful.

Painting Scrambler Puzzle in the Dining Room

As of today, November 30, I have made decent progress. I can move between the three rooms: foyer (starting point), the dining room, and the Queen of Hearts’ bedroom. In both the dining room and bedroom, I have puzzles working. The next step is to have a piece of a key appear at the completion of each puzzle. I have two more puzzles to code as well as building an inventory, and then the game is complete. If there is time, I know the artists wanted to create a home screen with some backstory.

That’s the progress I’ve made as of now. Hopefully, I come back and edit this post with a final prototype. Until then, enjoy playing Alice’s Castle Escape.
